Fund a Farmer
The ASCFG is pleased to announce the Fund a Farmer program! This new program allows our members to donate to a conference scholarship fund which is dedicated to creating professional growth opportunities for our early career members that belong to historically underserved farming communities.
For some background, the phrase “historically underserved farmers” stems from a federal definition published by the United States Department of Agriculture and includes members of Black, Indigenous, Latino, and Asian communities, as well as biracial individuals and other people of color (often abbreviated as BIPOC). These communities have historically experienced a significant lack of access to and/or barriers to agricultural opportunities. As we move into the future, the ASCFG envisions, and is committed to contributing to, a more inclusive specialty cut flower farming industry. Your donation directly helps the Association award scholarships to ASCFG members who hail from these communities.
So how can you get involved? Members can donate through this form. Please know that no donation is too small. Our goal is to fund as many 2023 Conference Scholarships for our early career BIPOC farmers as we can. We can’t do this without you!
Are you a BIPOC member of the ASCFG? And an early career cut flower farmer in the first two years of your profession? You may be eligible for a scholarship. More information about the eligibility criteria and the application process will be available in mid-April 2023. If you have any questions, you are welcome to reach out to the ASCFG.
